Tonya L. Barnes
Tonya is a results-oriented self-starter with highly developed administrative, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Education
A native Rochesterian, Tonya graduated from the African American Leadership Development Program in 2007. Tonya received her Family Development Credentialing through Cornell University in 1999. Tonya received her Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology in 1988 from the University of Buffalo.
Career and Affiliations
Tonya is the STAR, Inc. Program Coordinator. She is currently
employed full-time as the Regional Systems Trainer at Planned Parenthood of Rochester, Inc. Tonya has also been trained in Lean Six Sigma Methodology.
In April 2011, Tonya received from the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women an award for community service. Tonya has a passion for working with young ladies and women in the Rochester community. Also, in 2011, Tonya was named as one of the 175 most empowering women in Rochester.
Throughout her career, Tonya has demonstrated effective management skills, and has dealt expertly with personnel selection and development, training, personnel policies, and equal employment opportunity (EEO). Tonya also has over 5 years of counseling experience with youth and their families.
Tonya is a member of the East Henrietta Road Church of Christ. Tonya was a member of The Rochester Debutante Club, Inc., from 1980-1982, and made her debut into society in 1983.
